The application of lead dioxide electrode(1)

By using the lead dioxide electrode, we can electrolyze many inorganic compounds such as chromic acid, periodates, manganese dioxide and perchlorate, etc. During the production of chromic acid and periodates, if we adopt the platinum electrode, the electrolytic reaction almost never happens. When we make the chromic acid, we adopt the lead dioxide electrode and the stainless steel as cathode, which can effectively electrolyze and oxidize Cr3+ into Cr6+. And its percent conversion can achieve 100% and the efficiency of the electric current is 70%--80%; in the industry of electrolyzing manganese dioxide, we use the lead dioxide electrode in place of the titanium, the titanium-manganese alloy. At normal temperature(<45℃) and under the circumstance of large electric current, the electrode has great stability.
